They have all of the gluten free treats! I found it via Google and had to go in and grab a cup of coffee and a couple of cupcakes. It was so worth the random trip. Quick and easy service. It is like your ordinary corner bakery, but it also has a real deal restaurant attached. I need to go back soon.
Love the bakery. Service is usually good. The restaurant has been updated and the environment is rather pleasant. I would recommend.
I stopped by for lunch. Sweet 27 has always been an oldie but goodie!! I didn't order my usual, orange chicken. I ordered chicken tikka masala with a side of cabbage. I wanted it a bit more spicy but it was good nonetheless. Sweet 27 can be a bit pricey for the pocket to portion ratio. My meal for a meat rice and side totaled to 29.26 which included a tip. I don't know this is a place I'd bring the family as it can be costly. I do wish they would run some lunch specials. I have never been disappointed in the service or food. It's always great. I love the space as it's great for a date night or a brief break from the office.
Excellent attention and service. Tried 6 different things from the menu; all were delicious. Well prepared, fresh and hot. Can't wait to go back!
Yummy , Rich, Gluten -Free Goodness ! Sweet 27 is always a fabulous treat. If you are gluten free like myself, then search no further, this is the spot for you. I can't begin to describe how grateful I am for local businesses such as this who cater to the gluten-free folks. They have obviously placed alot of time and energy perfectly their recipes and it definitely shows. I've been here several times, but this time I purchased a few of their cupcakes for my husband and I to share. I bought the tiramisu cupcake, my favorite hostess cupcake, peanut butter chocolate, and chocolate/caramel turtle with pecans cupcake. I'm a huge lover of chocolate and these treats do not disappoint. Moist, soft, delightful deliciousness lol They offer full size cakes as well for special occasions. This place is my go to. They also have wine, other drinks, and an entire Indian restaurant attached too. I've tried the dinner food and its very good as well. It's literally a one stop shop lol. Great indoor and outdoor seating, and eclectic decor. I truly love stopping by when I can.
Sooo I've been driving by here for at least three months and today I said no more! I parked and got out. I had no idea it was like a whole restaurant, it being a bakery caught my attention. I went in with the idea to purchase maybe just two cupcakes to try them out, but it was something about how pretty and wonderfully made these cupcakes looked, sooo I ended up getting about 10 cupcakes , the staff was so nice and I couldn't wait to get back to my car to try one and hunniiii, let me to tell you something. I had the carrot cake cupcake 1st and it was THEE ABSOLUTE BEST CUPCAKE IN MY LIFE! My two daughters, son and my mom all had cupcakes and they LOVED THEM!!!! Thank me later, pull-up & get you some!!! Not too mention the decor was super cute.. it was giving very multi-cultural and I loved it!
How good is this?! Well we are from SC and last week we were going to see our daughter who lives in Baltimore for dinner. Asked her to pick a place and she chose Sweet 27 Cafe and Bakery because everything is gluten free which her dad, my Honey needs due to allergies. And tonight, as we were driving back from MA to SC, we decided to return back to this restaurant even though our daughter wasn't available, to try some different dishes. Still ordered the sweet potato as the side again as it's amazing to me. Honey ordered the Orange Tofu with the Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Sweet Potatoes. I ordered the Aloo Naan Bread and the Arancini Rice Ball since I was going to gobble up Honey's Sweet Potatoes that I fell in love with the week before. And it wasn't a one time fluke, it was delicious!! And Honey, who doesn't really like sweet potatoes tried it and really enjoyed it too. I so wish I could get the recipe. I was lucky enough to get one piece of Naan from the basket since Honey ate them all up, creating mini wraps of his orange tofu and mashed potatoes and some of (my ) sweet potatoes, or dipping it into the orange sauce. The tofu was delicious though last week's tomato tofu was better since we both felt the orange was a bit too sweet for a meal. Still yummy and the tofu. Oh, and since they had GF and some vegan desserts, we again got some this time but for different items. Honey chose the Hostess. And after some prompting, I had been having so many desserts the previous few days in Boston and thought it would be better to curtail the sweets, I chose the raspberry ganache tart (I think . . I remembered it said raspberry and tart, and it was so good that it blew our minds since gf and vegan too). The Hostess was incredible too. For the "cream" it must have been coconut cream which tends to have that coconut oil texture and flavor. The "cake" part of it was moist and delicious too. Extremely impressed. I sent pix of the desserts to our daughter who works at another bakery down a few blocks and has come here to buy desserts since her roommates need to eat GF, to please befriend folks here to learn the recipe to send to us or else she's going to have her dad and mom come visit often for these fantastic food!! The desserts are not cheap as the Hostess was $4 or $4.50 which is standard for cupcakes and a great price for specialty like GF. The tart must have been $8 or $8.50. One would think that's high, but then again, when you order a slice of dessert at a restaurant, that's the standard price. Yet, when you taste these desserts, you'd be willing to pay for these. We had the same woman both weeks. She was nice and friendly but in a more reserved way, giving you space to enjoy your meal and company. She automatically brought out an extra plate without our asking. If we lived in Baltimore, it would definitely be our favorite and would be a regular. We came on Sundays both times, but the restaurant has other activities on other nights . . . Ie Happy Hour (there's a whole section for the bar which was closed on Sundays), there's also outdoor seating that must be open on other nights. So many items to choose from
Little caveat to my review is that I got this food delivered - so I can only speak to the quality of the food (and not the ambiance, service, etc.). With that being said - the food I received, even after a delivery wait time, was absolutely wonderful!!! I got the rice balls, chicken parm, and pumpkin muffins. First off - I could not even tell that any of it was "gluten free." (I was actually truly worried that it wasn't but then I had no reaction!) The pumpkin muffins were something I could not stop thinking about and I truly wish I could have them every day for breakfast.
I recently decided to cut gluten out of my diet to see how I might feel. The bad news is, I most likely have a gluten intolerance. The good news is, I have Sweet 27 nearby to keep me sane. This place is a gem. They have a completely gluten free menu including baked goods, Indian fusion dishes, and even a bar inside that is open on weekends. I recently ordered their chicken fried rice and I am obsessed. It's not your typical Chinese style fried rice but instead, it's their own take on this comforting dish. The chicken is seasoned to perfection and super tender. The rice is more of a longrain/basmati style rather than your typical jasmine rice. The veggies are plentiful and fresh. I also ordered their tofu bites, the veggie fritters, and their famous Batata Vada. My favorites are definitely the tofu bites and the Batata Vada. The Batata Vada is a potato fritter dipped in chickpea batter (remember, no gluten babyyy) and served with your typical mint sauce and tamarind sauce. SO GOOD. Pro tip: I like to save some of the dipping sauce and stir it into my fried rice for an extra razzle dazzle. I also tried the pumpkin muffins recently and was pleasantly surprised. They taste better when you let them sit out for a bit since they do refrigerate them. These weren't quite as unnoticeable of a gluten free option as everything else, but still impressive enough and satisfied my hankering for baked goods. All in all, I'm a huge fan. I WILL be back... like, maybe right this second.
